Former UKTV senior executive, Catherine Mackin, has been appointed as the Managing Director for Acorn Media Enterprises after a successful search by Lumina. Acorn Media Enterprises is the UK-based sister company to the popular US streaming service AcornTV, focused on developing new TV shows. In her new role, Catherine will head up Acorn Media Enterprises, where she will have responsibility for Acorn’s license and co-production arm.
With 20 years of programming experience, Catherine joins the RLJ Entertainment Division from UKTV, where she was Director of Program Acquisitions since 2009. Whilst there, she was in charge of scripted and non-scripted acquisitions, co-production and pre-sales, and oversaw titles such as “Suits”, “Primeval” and “Murdoch Mysteries”. Prior to this, Mackin had stints with BBC Worldwide and TV3 Ireland, the latter as Deputy Director of Programming. Here, Mackin was responsible for implementing the channel’s ITV simulcast deal.
The placement comes at an exciting time for the company, with the recent acquisition of RLJ Entertainment by AMC Networks, plus plans to expand into additional markets and commissioning several straight-to-series titles including “Agatha Raisin” and “London Kills”.
We would like to extend our congratulations to Catherine and wish her the best of luck in the future.
